Pete Sampras, arguably the greatest tennis player in history, announced his retirement tonight at the place where he won his first and last Grand Slam title.

Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi slugged through another two tie-breaks in a repeat of their epic US Open duel, but this time it was Sampras who came out on top at the Kooyong Classic in Melbourne.

Pete Sampras lost to Todd Martin then paid credit to his fellow American's Australian Open performance.
