Mark Scannell has been appointed head coach of the Ireland senior women’s side after six years out of international competition for the national side.

Basketball Ireland have accepted an invitation to compete in the Women’s European Championships of Small Countries in 2016 — but only on the proviso that the international programme will be self-funded.
