A brother of former Fianna Fáil minister and ceann comhairle John O’Donoghue yesterday confirmed he will not be seeking re-election to Kerry County Council.

Following a protracted campaign during the seventies, which involved the Gaeltacht Civil Rights organisation, students from UCC, Cumann an Chadhnaigh, many Gaeltacht and cultural bodies and organisations around the country, the government of the day granted a democratically elected Údarás to the Gaeltacht.

WITH more than 20 years experience of campaigning on rural issues, noted community activist Brigid O’Connor is determined to break the FF-FG stranglehold on council seats in the Dingle area.
