Well-backed all day and sent off 11/10 favourite, Love Potion made a successful debut for J P McManus and David Wachman in the Irish Stallion Farms 2-Y-0 Fillies Maiden in wet and windy Dundalk last night.

The victory of Rehn’s Nest in the Group 3 Lodge Park Stud Park Express Stakes proved the highlight of a spectacular opening day of the 2013 turf flat season for trainer Jim Bolger at the Curragh yesterday.

The Flat season gets under way this weekend, although it will be a low-key opening for me due to the weather.
