Presiding judge Frederique Aline jailed Bailey for 25 years and ordered that a new EU arrest warrant be issued.

A witness has told the Ian Bailey murder trial in Paris that her son’s life became very stressful after Mr Bailey told him that he had killed Sophie Toscan du Plantier.

Ian Bailey said he has no recall of writing the words: "Back in print again, hip hip hooray" after doing interviews with a journalist related to events surrounding the murder in West Cork of French filmmaker Sophie Toscan du Plantier in late 1996.

The newspapers who are fighting a libel action taken by English journalist Ian Bailey on coverage of the murder of Sophie Toscan du Plantier claimed today that the plaintiff confessed to killing the Frenchwoman with the words, "I did it, I did it, I went too far."
