AUSTRALIAN supermaxi Wild Oats won the 62nd Sydney to Hobart yacht race yesterday, becoming the first yacht in 42 years to notch up back-to-back victories in the bluewater classic.

NEW Zealand Supermaxi, Maximus, one of the most technically-advanced monohull racing yachts in the world, is to compete at the Royal Cork Yacht Club’s Cork Week, which begins on Monday.

Holder Bill Buckley Jnr of Erry, Co. Offaly, faces 80 rivals when he bids to retain the All Ireland Men's Pitch and Putt Strokeplay Championship at St. Stephen’s, Glanmire, Co. Cork tomorrow.
