Muslims across Europe are confronting a rise in 'Islamophobia' ranging from violent attacks to discrimination in the job and housing markets, a wide-ranging European Union report said today.

EU governments' record of fighting racism and xenophobia in 2004 was mixed, at best, and they must do more to end discrimination in employment, housing, education and other sectors, the EU’s racism monitoring agency said today.

Anti-Semitic violence is on the rise in several EU countries, including Britain, with “young white men” the main perpetrators, the EU’s anti-racism office said today.
