A 23-year-old design student, whose nose was broken when a box fell while she was working in a “dangerous” stockroom in a Dunnes Stores outlet, has been awarded €35,000 damages in the Circuit Civil Court.

A 30-year-old hotel supervisor, who broke her two front teeth when she dived into a shallow swimming pool and hit her face against the bottom, has been awarded €35,000 damages against a Dublin fitness club.

A 61-year-old carer who was injured when she fell off the toilet of her Shankill, Co Dublin, home, has been awarded almost €28,000 damages in the Circuit Civil Court.

An engineer has told the High Court a “proper risk assessment” should be carried out in advance of throwing items in the air at Ann Summers lingerie parties in venues where alcohol is being served. He was not saying such parties should be banned, Barry Tennyson said.
