BRITAIN’S first convicted war criminal was sentenced yesterday to a year in jail for mistreating Iraqi prisoners.

COLONEL Jorge Mendonca, former commander of the Queen’s Lancashire Regiment, has said he was convinced his soldiers did “enormous good” in Iraq.
