A Libyan court sentenced Muammar Gaddafi’s most prominent son, Saif al-Islam, and eight others to death over war crimes including killings of protesters during the 2011 revolution that ended his father’s rule.

Hundreds of protesters have taken to the streets of Libya’s second largest city today to demand the government’s removal in the first sign that the region’s unrest has spread to the North African Arab nation.
