A teenager who missed a liver transplant operation earlier this summer because of botched transport plans is undergoing surgery today in London.

A SYSTEM set up since the Meadhbh McGivern case means the HSE’s National Ambulance Service (NAS) now gets updates twice a day on the availability of emergency aircraft and gets instant alerts if any of those aircraft become unavailable.

AN investigation into the circumstances that led to a young girl being unable to fly to a London hospital for a liver transplant is expected to be completed in two to three weeks.
