THIS morning’s clash ofDouglas and Laytown &Bettystown in the semi-final of the Irish Ladies SeniorCup at Cork Golf Clubwill evoke a deep sense ofnostalgia for members of both clubs.

TOURNAMENT specialists Royal Portrush and Douglas are hopeful of regaining national eminence when the closing stages of the Irish Ladies Senior Cup are played at Cork Golf Club, Little Island, over the next two days.

Irish champion Tricia Mangan (Ennis), Claire Coughlan (Cork) and Martina Gillen (Beaverstown) will represent Ireland at the Espirito Santo Womens Amateur World Cup at Stellenbosch, October 18-21.

CORK woman Ann Heskin is the new president of the Irish Ladies’ Golf Union (ILGU). She replaces outgoing president, Ita Butler of Elm Park.

ANN HESKIN has been nominated president-elect of the Irish Ladies’ Golf Union. She will take over the presidency from Ita Butler in 2005.
