The pan-Arab TV channel Al-Jazeera today condemned a Spanish court’s finding that one of its journalists had collaborated with terrorism, accusing the judges of violating legal principles.

The US military in Baghdad has detained a reporter for the Qatar-based al-Jazeera satellite television broadcaster, saying he had broken unspecified “ground rules”.

A journalist with the Qatar-based television network Al-Jazeera has been arrested in Spain for suspected links with alleged al-Qaida members detained in the country earlier this year.

The Kabul office of the Arab satellite channel, heavily criticised by the US, was destroyed and the BBC office damaged by an American missile today, the channel’s managing director said.
