A FOG of suspicion has long enveloped the creator of Alice in Wonderland, Lewis Carroll, so much so that James Joyce once prudishly referred to him as ‘Lewd’s Carroll.’

A temporary export ban on a set of rare photographs of the little girl who inspired Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland stories has been extended until May.

Unique photographs, books, letters and other items belonging to the ‘‘real’’ Alice in Wonderland were sold for more than £2m.
