IVORY Coast President Laurent Gbagbo insisted the opposition rejoin the country’s unity government after violent clashes claimed at least 25 lives and brought the peace process to the brink of collapse.

A UN delegation met former Ivory Coast rebels in their central stronghold Bouake at the weekend to discuss issues preventing the rebels from returning to the unity government they quit in September, UN sources said yesterday.
