A TEAM of suicide car bombers, bent on death for “collaborators,” devastated the Red Cross headquarters and three police stations yesterday, killing 36 people and wounding more than 200 in the bloodiest day in Baghdad since the start of the US occupation.

The feared Ramadan rampage was launched in Baghdad today but on a scale that the American occupiers had not expected and not seen since major combat was declared over in May.

It is now thought that up to 40 people have died in today's blasts in Baghdad.

Four people, including one in custody in Britain, were indicted in the US today on charges they provided material support and resources to the Egyptian-based terrorist organisation known as the Islamic Group.
