An oil platform which was rocked by a massive explosion two days ago has sunk in the Gulf of Mexico, the US Coast Guard said today.

The US Coast Guard was searching by sea and air overnight for 11 workers missing since a thunderous explosion rocked an oil drilling platform that continued to burn late yesterday, more than a day since it sent a fireball into the night sky. Seventeen people were injured, four critically.
