DESPITE a highly publicised road safety campaign, there was a sad start to the new year for three families across the country as three young people lost their lives in road accidents in the first few hours of 2005.

THE National Safety Council is disappointed its grim prediction that more people would be killed on the roads in 2004 than in 2003 has come true.

The three people who died in two separate road accidents early this morning have been named.
