Egypt’s president today issued constitutional amendments granting himself far-reaching powers and ordering the retrial of leaders of Hosni Mubarak’s regime for the killing of protesters in last year’s uprising.

Egypt’s prosecutor general ordered that former president Hosni Mubarak to be moved from his hospital in a Red Sea resort town to a military facility, the state news agency reported.

The suspects in a drive-by shooting that killed seven people outside an Egyptian church on Coptic Christmas Eve are to be tried in an emergency state security court.
