An historic and against-the-odds first All-Ireland senior club football title for Ballyboden - and the fourth time in the last nine years the Andy Merrigan Cup has remained in Dublin.

Ballyboden St Endas were made to bend low to secure a first All-Ireland final spot that looked beyond them for so much of the second half of normal time.

MARK McCALLON netted a golden goal in Mullingar yesterday to keep Garrycastle on track for an historic Leinster Club SFC football title. Not alone has the Westmeath club never won the provincial title, but no team from the Lake County has ever managed to annex the provincial crown.
