A severely disabled young woman who claimed her injuries resulted from contracting a rare disease most probably from a parrot in a pet store has secured a further €3 million payout for the next three years.

Patricia Ingle, the young Limerick woman who has confounded medical experts with her recovery from a ‘locked in’ state after contracting a rare illness from a parrot cage, has begun work on writing her story.
