Josh Beausang’s late point earned Midleton CBS a draw against Blackwater CS at Waterford IT yesterday, but the east Cork school’s hopes of qualification to the Harty Cup quarter-finals rest on today’s game between Ardscoil Rís and Waterford’s De La Salle.

Last year’s champions Thurles CBS made it two wins from two in Group C of the Dr Harty Cup as they pulled away from Scoil na Tríonóide Naofa of Doon in the final quarter at Toomevara yesterday.

A combination of factors has meant today is the day Midleton CBS begin their Dr Harty Cup campaign, with a Group A clash against Ardscoil Rís in Cahir (1.30pm).

The Nenagh-Midleton clash was to determine the other qualifiers from Group 4, which Hamilton High School had already won.

Nenagh CBS will do battle with Midleton CBS in a straight shoot-out for the second qualification spot in Group 4 of the Dr Harty Cup.
