A MAN who was made redundant after 31 years in a carpet factory, and who was determined it wouldn’t finish his working life, is thanking Health Minister Micheál Martin for a potential windfall.

Workers at the Youghal Carpet Yarns plant have been told their jobs are to go. The company is to close today following a meeting between unions, management and employees.

Two hundred and seventy workers at the Youghal Carpet Yarns factory in east Cork are expected to be laid off this morning following a meeting between unions and management at the firm.
