The California wildfire that claimed the lives of two firefighters, ravaged more than 250 square miles and destroyed more than 60 homes was started deliberately, the US Forest service said today.

FIREFIGHTERS made more progress yesterday against a giant wildfire that has ravaged a national forest north of Los Angeles, with another day of co-operative weather a big help to beleaguered fire crews.
