ONE of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies confirmed it is to invest €250 million in a Co Cork plant, creating a further 150 jobs.

Pharmachemical Ireland, the IBEC group that represents the pharmaceutical and chemicals industry has welcomed the announcement by GlaxoSmithKline Beecham that 150 new jobs are to be created at its plant in Carrigaline, Co Cork.

THE US Food and Drug Administration last night cleared the way for production of a new drug which will lead to the creation of 150 new jobs in Cork.

A new breast cancer drug has been shown to slow down the progression of advanced cases of the disease by more than 50%, drug company GlaxoSmithKline said today.
