WE have called for an independent investigation to ascertain what happened or did not happen on the weekend of July 27 and 28 in Westport, Newport and Islandeady as regards the issue of Travellers and publicans.

A BLANKET ban by publicans on the sale of alcohol to Travellers would only alienate the travelling community further and lead to a flood of discrimination cases against pubs, it was claimed yesterday.
