A new road safety report will recommend it be made compulsory for cyclists to wear helmets and high visibility jackets at all times, and that pedestrians wear the jackets after dark.

New speed limits of 30km/hr will be introduced at 39 housing estates in Cork by September 28.

Newly formed municipal districts in Co Cork will have the power to decide on introducing or axing pay-parking, but doing the latter will see them lose funding from Cork County Council.

Pay parking could soon be introduced in all large towns in Co Cork, according to the chairman of the county council’s Transport Special Purposes Committee.
