THE number of bogus non-resident bank accounts opened in Ireland is much higher than originally estimated, according to a former bank official who encouraged customers to participate in offshore scams.

THE Revenue Commissioners are to widen their investigation of bogus non-resident accounts by looking into all accounts held by Irish nationals in the Channel Islands and Isle of Man.
