THE Morris Tribunal probe into garda corruption allegations yesterday heard claims of “grievous negligence” by officers who initially investigated the mystery roadside death of a cattle dealer in Co Donegal nearly seven years ago.

The Morris Tribunal into garda corruption has spent the day hearing evidence behind closed doors in Dublin.

The Morris Tribunal, set up to investigate allegations of misconduct by certain members of the Gardaí in Donegal, has this morning heard details of alleged extortion and hoax telephone calls made to the home of a Raphoe family following the death of local cattle dealer Richie Barron.

The Morris Tribunal into allegations of Garda corruption in Co Donegal will hold its second public hearing today.
