Dublin Civil Defence is opening doors tonight to a homeless facility which will offer 20 beds as emergency accommodation in the run-up to Christmas.

A tragedy was narrowly averted last night when 35 people were rescued from Lough Derg after boat crews taking part in an international rowing event got into difficulty.
