Elected representatives from the opposition party of democracy icon Aung San Suu Kyi are unlikely to take their seats in the Burmese parliament on Monday because they disagree with the oath of office.

Burma’s government has approved opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi’s party to register for a coming by-election, formally bringing the pro-democracy group back into the country’s political arena, state-run media said.

Senior members of Aung San Suu Kyi’s party is meeting to decide whether to register it as a legal body so that it can take part in future elections.
