At least six people have been killed in a drive-by shooting and a bombing in Iraq.

Five Iraqi policemen have been killed in an insurgent attack on their checkpoint in the western half of the country, officials said today.

Gunmen have attacked a house south of Baghdad in an area which remains an al-Qaida stronghold, killing six people as they were sleeping in their home, Iraqi police said today.
