The biggest buyer of soured real-estate debt in Europe says disposals of non-performing loans from across the continent’s banks and governments will continue until at least 2021.

The controversy started over disputed legal fees at the Belfast law firm Tughans involving £7m (€9.8m) held in a secret account on the Isle of Man.

Brown Rudnick, the US law firm which advised two bidders involved in the controversial €5.7bn of Project Eagle loans sold by Nama last year, yesterday said it would co-operate with all inquiries into the transaction.

Nama was toughing it out last night amid calls from Stormont and in the Dáil that it review the process behind the controversial sale last year of €5.7bn of loans to a giant US fund.

Stormont’s Finance Committee wants to call Mick Wallace and NAMA officials to appear before public hearings next week.
