One of the partners of the Corrib Gas Field, Vermilion Energy, recorded sales of $17m (€14.89m) from the field in the first quarter of the year.

Shell Ireland has received a further €50m cash injection from oil giant Shell, as the Irish firm finally generates revenues from the long-delayed and controversial €3.6bn Corrib Gas field.

Shell Ireland yesterday declared that on-site work is complete for gas to flow from the Corrib gas field.

Statoil Exploration Ireland Limited (SEIR) are to begin a €17m drilling exploration in late July on the Cong prospect - 32 nautical miles north west of Mayo.
