Major shortcomings have been found by the State’s health watchdog in a Health Service Executive (HSE)-run centre for people with disabilities in Dublin.

The State’s health watchdog has warned it is considering taking regulatory action against a Cork nursing home which failed to address concerns raised about the safety and suitability of its premises.

Last year saw more than 4,000 injuries that required medical treatment suffered by older people living in residential care homes, according to a report by the State’s health watchdog.
