The gates of cemeteries in Cork City may be locked at night in a bid to prevent vandals from desecrating graves.

Archaeologists have trained volunteers to map headstones and record the stories and folklore from historic cemeteries as part of a nationwide project aimed at reaching out to the Irish disapora.

A VOLUNTEER group has developed an interactive website mapping the graves of some of the most famous people buried in Cork’s historic St Finbarr’s Cemetery.
