Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has said the banks could sort out the tracker scandal in months.

The head of the Central Bank says it has been pushed to the “limits” of its powers in trying to force banks to compensate and address people ripped off from the tracker mortgage scandal. 

The eventual bill for compensation in the tracker mortgage scandal could be €500m, the governor of the Central Bank has said.
