CHARLES TAYLOR’S war crimes trial is ending the way it began — with the former Liberian president boycotting proceedings and claiming they are politically motivated and unfair.

Charles Taylor’s lawyer has stormed out of court after judges refused to accept a written summary of the former Liberian president’s defence case at the end of his war crimes trial in the Netherlands.

FORMER Liberian president Charles Taylor called charges of war crimes against him “lies” as he took the stand for the first time at his landmark trial in The Hague.
