Cork county councillors want to use the country’s largest, but unused, landfill site to dispose of Japanese knotweed, and say the move might make it cheaper to build new homes.

The community group opposed to the building of an incinerator in Cork Harbour has claimed the application is invalid, due to a string of issues, including errors over the company name of the applicant, Indaver Ireland.
