Kerry County Council is being asked to set out its policies for “emerging technologies” after it gave the go-ahead for a controversial battery storage plant near an electricity substation in Sliabh Luachra.

A controversial wind farm proposal for turbines reaching 150 metres in height and 120-metre diameter blades in the heart of historic Sliabh Luachra area in Kerry has been granted permission by An Bord Pleanala.

No provision has been made in planning laws, in Kerry, for a minimum distance of the erection of huge wind turbines from family homes.
