A TOWN decimated by the Great Famine will host the State’s first public national Famine commemoration event next week.

THERE should be laughs galore at the 55th North Cork Drama Festival, which opens at the Community Hall in Charleville tomorrow night and continues until March 31.

A POWERFUL production of Lyle Kessler’s play Orphans by Ballyduff Drama Group of west Waterford won the Bryan MacMahon Trophy, the top award in the open competition at the North Cork Drama Festival, now in its 54th year.
