No decision has yet been made on how to dispose of the 10m burgers taken off the shelves due to horsemeat contamination — and one of the country’s busiest emergency food providers has said it would not give them to its clients.

A four-week delay between initial test results showing horsemeat in beef burgers and the agriculture minister being informed was “not good enough”, according to Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin.

Test results are expected today which will show whether horse meat was confined to one batch of burgers or was knowingly imported by the beef factory which made them.
