Independent News and Media (INM) has sold off its extensive South African newspaper business for €170m as it battles to reduce its €420m debt mountain.

The Cape Town-based investment company Sekunjalo Holdings is expected to lodge a formal offer for the South African publishing assets of Independent News & Media “shortly”.
