Garda counter-terrorism officers are to consult with foreign security agencies following the arrest of two men on suspicion of funding so-called Islamic State (IS), writes Cormac O’Keeffe of the Irish Examiner.

The Government yesterday appointed eleven senior officers in a bid to fill “critical vacancies” in the Garda Síochána.

The Garda commissioner said the appointment by the Government of 28 senior garda managers will “help to address the critical vacancies” in the organisation.
