The Bishop of Cork and Ross John Buckley has invited the boards of management of three Cork city schools to a meeting to try to diffuse the row over plans by one of the schools to start enrolling junior infants.

Cork’s Lord Mayor has urged parents and management at a school that wants to enrol junior infants to discuss any changes with other schools and avoid creating enemies.

Parents at the second of two Cork city primary schools proposed for amalgamation have voted unanimously against the move.
