I am writing this letter to question why people are still attending Mass in the Catholic church.

I WAS appalled to learn about Fine Gael’s plan to possibly abolish compulsory Irish from the Leaving Certificate curriculum.

I AGREE wholeheartedly with John Mallon (Letters, October 15). It is unbelievable that article 45 of the constitution is so quietly being ignored in the interests of free competition by this Government and its legal advisers.

FOLLOWING Ronnie Plant’s letter (September 3) about people driving about in clear conditions with their foglights fully on, I wish to highlight another example of bad driving — tailgating.

THIS moment is a rallying call for all who are harbouring some satisfaction at the misfortune of a country, like all others, struggling in Shakespearean fashion with its inadequacies. Indeed, this is an embarrassing moment for the United States.
