Ireland is doubling its financial aid to the disaster-struck Philippines.

A Government consignment of more than 80 tonnes of emergency humanitarian supplies has arrived in Haiti, Minister of State for Overseas Development Peter Power confirmed today.

A member of the Government’s Rapid Response Corps is being despatched to Georgia to help victims of the conflict with Russia.
