A man who suffered a serious back injury after he fell off his bike which slipped on a road surface where he claimed excessive sealant had been used has been awarded €64,000 by a High Court judge.

A dispute over haulage rates between Roadstone Wood Ltd and sub-contract hauliers working for the company has escalated.

Eighteen sub-contract hauliers working for Roadstone Wood Ltd, in Kerry, have withdrawn their services in a dispute over haulage rates and their action may have national implications.

A HIGH Court decision yesterday means Goode Concrete may be permitted to call detailed evidence of alleged serious anti-competitive practices in the cement industry dating back three decades in proceedings where it claims post-2007 below-cost selling and other unlawful practices drove it out of business.

ROADSTONE Wood is facing legal action by more than 80 haulage drivers who claim the firm is using freelance operators in spite of the fact there is not enough work for its own drivers.
