HUNDREDS of tax cheats will escape being named and shamed by the Revenue Commissioners when Finance Minister Brian Cowen changes the settlement limit at which they can be identified.

The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland (ICAI) has welcomed today’s publication of the Law Reform Commission Report on a Fiscal Prosecutor and Revenue Court.

THE Law Reform Commission has adopted a “safety first” approach to reform in the area of tax law enforcement by passing up the opportunity to recommend the establishment of a specialist Revenue Court and a new post of Director of Fiscal Prosecutions.
