EQUINE academic Soraya Morscher believes a separate studbook would be welcome in helping breeders identify stallions with the traits required to breed an eventing horse.

A STUDY published this week says there is an “urgent need” for a separate studbook for Irish eventing horses as it highlights “a number of unfavourable conformation traits”.

THE author of a report into the Irish Draught says that the breed could face extinction unless proposals are adopted that allow for greater diversity.
